Multiple injuries reported in Kentucky car accident

A Kentucky state trooper was among those injured in a car crash that took place on Sept. 24 in Corbin. The crash occurred at about 4:11 p.m. at the intersection of US Route 25E and Ohler Road. According to witnesses, a Ford Taurus driven by an 80-year-old man misjudged a left turn onto Ohler from US 25E when his vehicle was struck by the police cruiser.

Authorities say that there was a third vehicle that was also involved in the crash. It was a Ford Explorer driven by a 61-year-old man who was taken to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the Taurus was also taken to the hospital in addition to passengers in those vehicles. The state trooper involved in the crash was also taken to an area hospital for treatment.

A local public affairs officer said that the trooper had sustained a concussion in addition to having whiplash. He also suffered multiple cuts and bruises in the accident, and he was expected to return to work within three weeks. The cause of the wreck was still under investigation, and it was not clear if the driver of the Taurus would face criminal charges or traffic citations.

If a negligent driver causes a car accident, injured victims may be entitled to compensation. Compensation may help cover medical bills or related costs such as a wheelchair or physical therapy during recovery. It may also be used to help a victim recoup lost wages or lost future earnings if he or she is not able to return to work. An attorney may be able to review a case and possibly establish that the person who caused an accident that resulted in injuries acted in a negligent manner prior to the wreck.
